Dr. Renda Songer is proud to consider herself a Rockwall native. Although her career has taken her away from town a few times, she has always come back home.

 

She is an state and national level award-winning educator, licensed cosmetology and barbering professional, and Career and Technical Education leader dedicated to advancing workforce education and student success in the beauty and wellness industry. Before moving into public education, she owned several successful multi-chair salons.  After a life change within her immediate family, Dr. Renda moved into public education because she thought it might be a better schedule than the full, long days she had in her salon.  She was definitely wrong about that! But, she discovered a calling as an educator and a leader.  She has been involved with cosmetology and barber education in public high schools, private schools, and at the college level. With extensive experience both behind the chair and in the classroom, Dr. Renda has built a reputation for innovative program development, industry-driven instruction, and advocacy for high-quality cosmetology and barbering education across Texas.

 

Dr. Renda holds multiple advanced degrees in education, leadership, public administration, and criminal justice, including a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University. Her professional background includes leadership roles in Career and Technical Education, State and Federal Programs, CCMR initiatives, workforce development, and postsecondary pathway design. She is also a dual-licensed Texas professional, holding both the Texas Cosmetology Operator and Class A Barber licenses.  Additionally, she is a Texas State Board for Education Certified as a Teacher and a Principal.  In the past, she was also licensed as a Manicurist and a Texas Cosmetology Instructor.  

 

Throughout her career, Dr. Renda has been recognized for her commitment to student achievement, educator support, and industry advancement. She has led statewide initiatives focused on improving licensure outcomes, strengthening cosmetology and barbering curriculum alignment, and expanding access to career-ready educational pathways. She is the founder of Texas Barber & Cosmetology Educators, an organization dedicated to supporting beauty and barbering educators through professional development, collaboration, and advocacy.

 

As the founder of The Institute Rockwall, Dr. Renda is focused on creating a modern, student-centered educational experience that blends hands-on technical training with flexible hybrid learning opportunities. Her mission is to prepare future beauty professionals with the skills, confidence, professionalism, and industry knowledge needed to succeed in today’s evolving beauty and wellness industry.
